East Bay Express: Tunnel Vision Part 1: Delta In Peril

The East Bay Express has a comprehensive article on the history of the Delta in the context of the ongoing debates concerning the Bay Delta Conservation Plan. The article summarizes the problems with the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta well, currently “less than 5 percent of the Delta’s original wetlands remain intact, and two-thirds of its land mass is devoted to agriculture.” All the while less and less freshwater is flowing from the Delta through the San Francisco, increasing salinity levels. Part one of the series can be read here and part two will be released June 19th.
