California congressional leaders send letter to Secretary Salazar requesting detailed briefing on the BDCP

“Dear Secretary Salazar and Acting Secretary Blank: On December 4, 2012, we met with representatives of the U.S. Departments of the Interior (DOI) and Commerce (DOC) for an update on the Bay Delta Conservation Plan. We were pleased to hear commitments by DOI that BDCP will have no upstream impacts and all biological goals will be met in the final proposed plan. Unfortunately, that briefing left us concerned that your Departments have made little substantive progress toward a scientifically sound and trasparent plan that sufficiently meets the environmental goals since the announcement of the proposal in July. Accordingly, we request that your representatives prepare a more detailed briefing focusing on the following questions, and present it to us before the close of the 112th Congress. …
